The Capital Campaign

Help support our fundraising efforts…

Not long ago, we observed a group of children walking down the sidewalk just outside of the Barrymore Film Center. As they encountered the Walk of Fame, they began jumping from star to star as if it were a game of hopscotch. Then, suddenly one child pointed inside and in unison, they all stopped and pressed their tiny faces against the glass, holding their hands on the outside of their eyes, so they can better see the grand lobby and the giant staircase stretching to the sky. It’s hard to know exactly the chatter that ensued, but from their gestures, we suspect it was filled with great excitement and wonder. Do these children know what happened on this very site, so long ago? Have they ever heard that Fort Lee was the film capital of the world? Do you think they know what wonders they may one day see inside? Will they find the inspiration to become future filmmakers?

This image reminds us of the anticipation we all feel when something wonderful is about to be unveiled. Although we must wait a bit longer to open this beautiful gift from the Borough of Fort Lee, whether you are a cinephile or just love movies, we know that there will be something for everyone to experience and share.

“Each man’s life touches so many other lives, and when he isn’t around, he leaves an awful hole, doesn’t he?” Angel Clarence to George Bailey – IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE

If not for you, there would be a cavernous hole where the Barrymore Film Center proudly stands. It’s been a great year and we have you to thank. Some of you sent notes of encouragement, joined as members, participated in our short film festival, volunteered to help, donated resources and time to our organization, or are part of our cheering section, we thank each of you.

As we look to 2022, we have considerable milestones to reach, including an inventive and ambitious programming schedule, which requires considerable planning and resources. We encourage you to consider a donation of any amount, which will help us reach these goals and we thank you for all your support. Just complete the Annual Appeal Donation Form and mail to the BFC at P.O. Box 229, Fort Lee, NJ 07024 or visit our website BARRYMOREFILMCENTER.COM and complete the transaction online.

The most cherished gift of all will be the one you give us each time you come to the BFC and leave enriched. We truly look forward to the day when we can unwrap this wonderful treasure and welcome you inside.

The Friends of Barrymore Film Center wish you all a wonderful Holiday Season, filled with merriment, magic and movies!
